One of my first efforts in downtempo electronica. A modestly-produced experiment (created solely with soundfonts and the inexpensive sequencing software Power Tracks), it won the Tonos.com Electronic Music Producing challenge. Any DJs out there who are interested in vinyl for this track, contact me.
My remix of the song “Drowning” by Raspberry Silk. The original was excellent - a dark, Pink Floydian epic, and this remix was an attempt to make it even darker and heavier.
Another remix, this time for the (now defunct?) Scottish lo-fi folk rock group, The Beaker People. I just loved the song so much, I had to ruin it with my synthy, breakbeat goop. Ian Simpson, one of the Beakers, is now doing his own thing at www.lofimusic.co.uk.
A follow-up of sorts to “aprilzero,” this explores the polyrhythmic side of me, while keeping the “chillout” factor high.
This is what the kids used to call “techno.” This track is at least 10 years old at the time I write this (December 2005). Arranged, recorded, and performed completely on a Korg X3 workstation, it’s got a highly embarassing title, video game style noises, and a very distinct New Order feel in parts. Rave ’til dawn, but don’t forget to beat the big boss at the end of the level!
Although this dates from around the same time as “Armageddon,” it’s a much more mature piece. I was listening to a lot of the Orb and Future Sound of London at the time, and I think it shows, what with all the backwards drum loops and ambient noises. I think it still holds up, but I could be wrong…
