Unnecessary Quotes “Redux”
A while back, I posted about some regional linguistic pet peeves of mine, one of which was the “random” use of quotation “mark’s” and “apostrophe’s.”
Looks like someone’s taken the Engrish approach to the subject, creating a blog (http://quotation-marks.blogspot.com/) to showcase particularly bad examples of quotation mark “abuse” in the “wild.” Not only that, but Merlin Mann directs us to a Flickr pool specifically for these unattributed “gems.”
So, the next time you see a sign advertising “Meat,” or an ad in the paper for a store that’s been around “Since 1965,” know you’re not alone.
