So long, Tom O’Dell
Edit (as of 5/8/06): For those of you who don’t feel like schlepping your way through hundreds of comments: yes, I know the knife show is back and on the air on your local PAX (or whatever they’re calling themselves now) affiliate. This post was written over 2 years ago, when the world was a much darker, O’Dell-free place. Read on, knowing that sometimes in life, there is a happy ending after all.
The Knife collector’s show is off the air. A cherished part of my recent past is now relegated to the scrap-pile of history.
Let me try to explain, here. When I lived with my buddy John 5-6 years ago, we both kept really odd schedules - his the schedule of a third-year college student, mine the schedule of a second-shift call-center rep. In other words, we both stayed up pretty late, usually watching TV.
One of our favorite pastimes was watching the Knife Collector’s Show on the Shop At Home network. At 2:30 Saturday morning, what could possibly be more entertaining than watching a large Southern man try to sell knives, spouting nonsensical wisdom while seemingly under the influence of way too much caffiene (or, perhaps some less legal stimulant)? Tom O’Dell, the main host of the show, gave us all these things and more.
He provided even more entertainment when he briefly took over the following night’s Sports Collectibles show, turning the phrases “Gem Mint 10″ (or, as O’Dell would say, “Jeeyim, mint, TIN!”) and his cry of salesmanly desperation,”They’re AUTOGRAPHED!” into instant comedy.
John and I recently tried to tune into Shop at Home late one Friday to see if O’Dell was still up to his old tricks. Sadly, he had been replaced by a sub-QVC level bland talking head selling jewelry. We held out hope that maybe Tom had been shuffled in the schedule, but now sadly the worst has been confirmed.
Thanks for the memories, Mr. O’Dell. May you and your knife-selling buddy Shaun Leflar live to hawk one more Conan the Barbarian special.

At last! Someone else who misses these guys. Man, I loved their on-air banter and jabs at one another. Does anyone have any idea why they replaced TKCS with Moissanite
Madness or some-such inaneness? I read somewhere that our boy Tom O’dell was one of the original founders of Shop-At-Home network….where did they put him? I tried
emailing S Leflar but he never answered me.

tom odell now has a new show of his own, entitled cutlery corner. the website for the show is http://www.cutlerycorner.com. he’s the ceo of the ‘network’ and has a new co-host, named todd. check it out. the quality of the show is so much cheaper than even that of his former network, they’re always dropping things and he has his step daughter, michelle, working for him, as well. i thought my life was over, also, until i stumbled upon his broadcast last sunday morning. check it out.

I have recently started to watch cutlery corner and i love it. Tom’s co-host Todd Boone is a ass though and trashes Tom constantly and it’s pissing me off because much like you folks i share a deep love for Tom O’Dell. Have you seen the clip from the Shop-At-Home network where the katana breaks and stabs the other guy in the stomach and Tom just walks out laughing. It is at ebaumsworld.com under the video part, you have to check it out, i will get the link as soon as possible

Who has had the most influence on my life you ask? Well I’m sure there are great deals of people that have had a large impact on my life. Is it my dad? Or maybe it’s my mom, or brothers, or even a teacher that showed extra interest. Although all of these people have changed my life in some large way, there is still one man who stands out in my mind when posed this question. And that man is Tom O’Dell.
Some may ask, “Who is this Tom O’Dell?” Well to those people I would laugh, because I believe that in this day and age in which there is such a vast love for cutlery, and cutlery collecting is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the world it is foolish to say that you haven’t heard his name mentioned. Even if it were just whispered in legendary stories that seem unbelievable.
Tom O’Dell is the host of the Cutlery Corner Network. If you tune in every Sunday morning at 12:00 a.m. and again on Thursday at 12:05 a.m. you can watch Tom throw out endless amounts of nonsensical knowledge about cutlery. Their main goal is to get high quality cutlery straight from the factory to the consumer. Tom sells everything from swords to pocket knives at unbeatable low prices. As Tom says, “If you find a better price anywhere I will eat a big bug!”
Their prices at times are so unbelievable that their charismatic host can not even believe them. He has often times mumbled and stuttered through many statements he is in such shock. Once they sold a set of 73 pocket knives for mere pennies on the dollar. It was only $89.99, which broke down to only $1.15 a knife. Some of which could sell for up to $19.95 on the retail market! You may not realize what this means but let me pose this situation to you. Suppose you wanted to resell all of these knives, you could turn a profit of nearly $1300 if you sold each knife for $19.95. Of course I don’t know why you would want to since every single one of the knives that Tom sells you is sharp enough to cut threw a single run sheet.
Mr. O’Dell has a vast knowledge of all sorts of cutlery, but his specialty is “bigguns” as he likes to call them. Bigguns are any bowie that is twelve inches and up. Tom is the man who made these types of knives popular in the mainstream world of cutlery collecting, but that isn’t the only type of sharp object that he can enlighten you on. Once, while selling a collection of swords which included a replicate of the Highlander sword, Tom effectively showed his vast audience how to wield the sword and explained how they were safely carried in medieval times.
Sadly Tom O’Dell’s cutlery selling career nearly ended before it began. Years ago, before Tom started Cutlery Corner; O’Dell worked on the Shop-At-Home Network hosting their knife collecting show. He was backed up by his co-host Shaun Leflar, who was not quite the connoisseur of cutlery as Tom O’Dell is, but what he lacked in knowledge and experience he made up with charisma. Their chemistry together was amazing, and their on-air banter and shots at one another entertained viewers and moved the merchandise off the shelves at an astonishing rate. But late one night while they were shooting this program live, tragedy struck the set of the Shop-At-Home Network. Shaun was selling a set of practice katanas. As he started to demonstrate the durability of the blade by beating it on the counter, the blade failed him. It snapped in two and the nose of the sword flipped back toward Shaun and severed his stomach. As he fell to the floor crying for Tom’s help, O’Dell coolly and calmly walked onto the set to try and settle the shocked customers at home. However, try as he may, you could see the fear in Tom’s eyes. Was he going to lose his co-host? Would this faulty blade be the end to his friend’s life?
Luckily for us all it wasn’t. The EMTs arrived in time to perform some life saving emergency surgery right there on the set. Shaun was fine but his career in cutlery dealing was not. He was too traumatized to continue. Tom is a different story. He was able to pick back up the pieces and start anew. Giving up his one true calling and love was unthinkable to him. But Tom O’Dell was furious with his old network for trying to pass of second rate cutlery as being high quality. That is when he decided to started Cutlery Corner. He is determined never to present another poor quality sword or knife to his audience ever again.
Over the past few weeks that I have been watching Tom O’Dell’s show I have learned more than I ever imagined that I would about cutlery. I have been shown the beautiful light of this new hobby and as strange as it may sound to you, I feel that I have made a new friend in the process. Every Sunday and Thursday morning when I tune in to watch more fine Frost Cutlery products be sold by Tom it seems to me that when he pretends to beat his co-host with a hammer or slices threw a sheet of paper with a room temperature knife like a hot knife threw a stick of butter, I feel like he is doing that all for me.

Wow, I turn my head away for a few months and suddenly this post is the haven for Knife Show junkies…man, I love the internet!
Andrew, thank you for your impassioned essay about the man who has changed all of our lives, regardless of how vehemently we deny it.

I’ve been watching Tom O’Dell for years on both HSN and now CCN, but I never knew about Shawn’s “self stabbing incident”. You may laugh at his sales pitch, you may laugh at the products he sold, but you have to admit, Shawn is one tough customer. How may people do you know who have been stabbed with a sword, and still had the presence of mind to walk off camera before collapsing?
Tom is still selling the “Self Stabbing Katana” on his web site: http://www.cutlerycorner.net/productDetail.asp?id=165&pc=8 It’s only $29.95, you can’t stab your self with a sword cheaper than that!
By the way, if your wondering who would buy pocket knifes and bowies buy the dozen, just do a search on eBay for “Panther Bowie” or “Undertaker Bowie” and all will be made clear to you….
P.S. I was watching CCN thrusday night and I must say that $59.00 for a Naginata is a steal, so what are you waiting for call now!
September 25th, 2004 at 2:21 pm
On a serious note, I believe someone above asked why HSN stopped showing The Knife Collectors Show. I believe the reason for the cancellation of both The Knife Collectors Show and the departure of Don West, (the loud mouthed baseball card guy), was the change in ownership of HSN. Controlling interest in HSN was bough by the group that owns both the Food Channel and Home And Garden Television. They wanted to take the HSN image upscale, and attract the same sort of viewers as their other channels. Sadly, two foot long knifes, and Scottish claymores, (bigger than the people selling them), did not fit into the new image.
P.S. If you miss Don West he now does play-by-play for the NWA:TNA wrestling television show IMPACT: http://www.nwatna.com/superstars/main_stars.shtml

What channel is Cutlery Corner Network on??????? I don’t see that channel listed for either DirecTV or Adelphia cable.
Thanks!
September 26th, 2004 at 10:28 am
Cutlery Corner Network is not actually a network, nor is it a channel, it’s just the name they give to the 3 hour block of television time they purchase to do their show with. In essence, CCN is just another infomercial.
In Alabama CCN actually comes on the PAXSAT channel, which is 78 on the Knology cable system. The “TV Guide” on my Tivo, (yes I realize how sad it is that I Tivo this), lists the show name as “Knife Show”. Try looking for a program called “Knife Show” on your cable/satellite system. If you don’t find it that way, they may not list it as “Knife Show” buy may instead call it “Paid Programming” as they do with most of the “shows” that are infomercials.

OH MY GOD!!
Other fans of “The Knife Show” while I didn’t watch the show they had on the shopping network, I do however, make a weekly visit to my friends house to catch it on DirectTV every Saturday at 10 till 1 and laugh hardaly at the man himself Tom Odell.
Me and my coherts stumbled upon this show probably how every other Cutlery Corner fan has, smoking pot, drinking beers and channel surfing, and am I ever glad of finding this gem of a show. While other waste there time on lame ass situational comedies and reality based television shows, I have found a friend in Tom Odell.
=t0NY
P.S. I believe there should be a Cutlery Corner website and or Documentary on Tom Odell, I mean come on… The man’s a genious in the art of cutlery..
P.S.S IT’S THE DELTA RANGER!!!!

Finally a well-deserved tribute to the man who knew how to bust out them Biggens! I Loved Tom O’ Dell and Leflar. Along with Don West (who sold baseball cards ) and Rob Chambes who sold coins. They were the best thing about Shop At Home(not to be confused with HSN) Their style blended entertainment and salesmanship in the best way and in the process made SAH refreshingly different from the triteness of bigger rivals like QVC and HSN.

My God Boys, I’ve finally found the tribute site to the true Kings of Cutlery, Shaun and O’dell! It is unbelievable that some network executive never had enough insight to capitalize on the realization that these guys had a following that FAR surpassed peddling knives at 2am. Man I would pass up the best movie all week to hear O’dell booming: “SHAUN LET ME SAAAAY THIS AGAIN. THIS IS THEEEEE MOST UNNNNNNBELIEVABLE DEAL I HAVE EEEEEEVVVVVER SEEEN OFFFFERD ON THIS SET OF KNIVES! THIS KNIFE HAS A DIAMOND CUT LASER GUIDED PATTERN INLAYED ON A 4140 GRADE STAAAAAAAINNNNLESSSSS STEEEEEEEEL BLADE!!! GENUINE DUEL SIDED EBONY BONE HANDLE CRAFTED IN GERMANY AND SUPPORTED WITH DOUBLE REINFORCED BRASS SLIP PLATES AND FULL LENGTH SNAP RIVETS!!! hahahahaha I LOVED THESE GUYS!
I wish we could send all these posts to some powers that be so they would realize just how popular our boys were.

i just recently started watching. i have worked for the BSA Supply Div for 25 years. I work in customer service(which may I add yours definently needs some improvement). In have been exposed to a lot of different knives and vendors. I ordered a pkg for 89.95. Tactical Remix. I was impressed. I took them to work and showed them to the Merchandising buyer for our camping supplies. He was impressed! That sold me! I had originally planned to give these as Christmas gifts but once I received the shipment and saw how many and how nice mopst of them were I changed my mind. I am planning to set up my son-in-law to sell them at a boot at the flea market in Dallas, NC Gaston CO. tHERE ARE A LOT OF good old boys there in that area. I was really impressed with the propduct. The thing I am disappointed in is your Customer Service dept. I could explain but just from one order and one shipment I have had at least 3 questions and one problem with my shipment. I cannot get a concrete answer. That makes we a little skeptical. I know from watching last Sun. morning (2 AM or so) you do not spend a lot of money on the props and such. There was a rock holding up a table and attention on the air was given to it. Which I thought was great. But when I call and ask a question OR make a second order but instead of my debit card I elect to pay by money order for my 2nd 200.00 order Jason calls me on 10-26 and tells me my card was denied for my order. I calmly infoprm him I paid with my card the first order I made but do not my account charged for this more recent order. I would be mailing a money order. He called me but I got the feeling I was bothering him. So wrong! I did call customer service yesterday to tell them one of the knives I received Did not have a dragon on the blade as pictured. His name was JD and he was most helpful. My situation was resolved quickly and efficiently. JD did not sigh in my ear. I could actually imagine his face from our phone conversation. (Although I do admitt I have a lot of experience with this) I am not hard to please I just hate bad customer service. To close may I say for someone that had no real interest in knives except for a 17 year old son that has always had some type of collection and a father that deer hunts religiously every year. I have an awareness but nothing until your show has sparked that in me. What a great show. I love it. It is informative and comical. If I could find out what time and channel you come on for Direct TV which I have, I could have a lot of people watching your show. I have talked about it a lot. But my calender I received in my shipment is for Dish Network. I tuned in @ 9 and 10 tonight. NO KNIFE SHOW. I called customer service. EXCUSE ME AS THEY CORRECTED ME I got the Sales dept. Must call back between 9-5 tomorrow for customer service to get the correct days and times to WATCH THE SHOW.(I HAD 3 PEOPLE IN MY LIVING ROOM READY TO SEE THE SHOW) NO GO. Whatever you want to call it, let me tell you from experience that was BAD customer service. Anyway, thank you. You have truely entertained me @ 3 in the morning when I could not sleep and found your show by chance just channel surfing. I MAY be ordering again. I really got some nice feedback on your products. I’ve watched the Knife Shows for about 9 years…first on Shop at Home with Tom O’Dell, Todd Boone & Shawn Lefler (yes, Todd used to work with both of them). Then Todd left & became high society having the Collectible Knives show on HSN. That’s when Shawn joined Tom. There used to be some wild times with the knives on Shop At Home….I loved the big block of wood they used to stick the knives in…or tried to. Now Todd is also on the sister station of HSN…something like Shop America selling knives. I had no idea he was back with Tom O’Dell on another channel…I never realized you could become a TV icon by selling knives but I guess I was wrong. My favorite host was some guy that had a shop at home show about 9 years ago named Chris. He was usually alone & tried to sell stuff he had bought (coins, jewelry). He would get so mad when folks wouldn’t call in and bid on them - it was a riot. I think he might have had some mental issues from the looks of it. Yep, those late hours watching shopping channels can really get you in trouble…just ask a friend of mine who has cases of knives that he bought from Todd & me who has a set of three Spanish Bowie knives…what was I thinking????

This is a little off topic but…
As I’m sure you’re all aware, the results of Tuesday night may well change the course of our nation forever. I’m not going to tell you what you should do, but I’m sure you realize that making the wrong choice will lead to repercussions that could be felt by generations to come. Although mistakes have been made in the past, (of which I’m sure we are all aware), that is no reason not to do what is best for this country and support the man that has done the best possible job under the most difficult of circumstances.
Hey, what are you getting so bent out of shape over? What? No, I’m not taking about the presidential election you fool, I’m taking about something far more important! This Tuesday night, (Wednesday at morning at midnight to be exact), our man Tom O’dell will launch the debut edition of THE COIN COLLECTORS SHOW!!!!!!!!!
That right, what Tom has done to bowies, and tactical folders he’ll be doing with quarters, doubloons, and proofs! I’m calling upon every American to turn out on Tuesday night, and make the right choice buy picking up their remote control and tuning in to the most important event in the history of late night sales. If this show becomes a hit who knows where it could end? First knifes, then coins; can sports collectables be to far behind? We could have a return to the Golden Age of Shop At Home!!! So come on people, put aside your partisan bickering and for one night, for one three hour programming block, let us stand side by side, hand in hand, and cry out to the Shop At Home Network in one voice, “YOU CAN FIRE OUR FAVORITE HOST, BUT YOULL NEVER TAKE AWAY OUR BOWIES!!!!!!!!!”
October 30th, 2004 at 11:52 am
Slarti…thank you for reminding us of what’s truly important. The price of Odellian freedom is eternal vigilance (or at least keeping a close eye on your cable company’s programming schedule…)

If you missed our man Tom this week, you missed his latest sales technique: “Subliminal Persuasion”, which may have been the cause of the damage to his microphone later on in the show!
If you missed Tom last week, you missed what might have been the first ever mention of KY Jelly on a knife collectors show…
November 16th, 2004 at 9:09 pm
Is anyone taping Tom’s new show? I don’t think it airs in my area and I’d really like to see it.
November 20th, 2004 at 4:47 pm
It’s nice to see a tribute on Mr O’dell. The man was a class act. He deserved an Emmy for the shows he did with Shawn Leflar. BTW I can’t believe they let him (O’dell) host a sports collectibles show on SAH, Don West selling sports cards is hillarious, but Odell doing sports would be a riot! Does anybody have a tape of it?
November 21st, 2004 at 4:15 am
oh man what did Tom say about ky jelly? i just heard him say a wasp got into the studio to get in on the big savings.
November 22nd, 2004 at 12:54 am
Fortunately, Tom’s KY comment was very brief. Todd was has in full sales pitch mode, extolling the virtues of the katana he has holding. He began to explain that since the blade was made of carbon steel, (as opposed the 440c), it would be shipped with a light layer of oil to prevent rusting. He remarked that oil was “good stuff”, at which point Tom added “Yeah, just like KY”.
This brought the show to a halt for about 2 seconds, as Todd had to compose himself, while Tom just stood there looking at him with a “I bet you didn’t think I would say that on TV.” look on his face.

Greetings fellow fans of cutlery, y’see. My friends and I have been viewing the fantastic antics of one Tom O’Dell for over three months now, and we had basically just assumed that we were insane for loving it so much, but you have allayed our suspisions. We have made a practice of recording Tom and our commentary on a mp3 player, and have assembled a small collection. http://www.purevolume.com/cutlercorner We rotate clips and put new ones up there periodically when we get them. We were also plannin some designs for some shirt, if anyone would be interested email me gandalf_the_gray25801@yahoo.com , and i’ll explain the design, and if you would be interested we will be distributing them.

Well I must say that cutlery corner is one of the greatest shows of our age… in fact it is the only show that i watch on television. It is so incredibly funny. I was the one that made those beautiful recordings and i can be heard making comments on it. I must say that my saturdays are made brighter just by watching this show and its existence has improved my quality of life!
February 3rd, 2005 at 4:00 pm
I think one of the great moments from the Tom O’Dell/Shawn Leflar era was when the two of them were selling one of those grab-bags where you don’t know what you’re getting (presumably 20 of the same knife). Anyway, Tom would asssure us that “Jerry in the back of the warehouse fills these orders, and he makes sure EVERY order goes out PACKED with VALLLL-YOOUUUU”
Wednesday’s (2/2) Cutlery Corner featured Tom rambling on and on about growing up in the woods and being a good ol’ boy - I assume this is par for the course.

We would roll around laughing so hard at this man.
He was a true entertainment piece. Soon he was hit on our floor

I am pretty sure Kristen taped a lot of the episodes.

Preferably autographed, but any picture will do. Even online. So if anyone knows of good pictures of Tom, or even his sidekick Tod, let me know. THANKS!

I do a little bit of everything including walking thru the live camera once in a while. I have done some production work, camera work but mainly I just setup the items. If you happened to catch the show where Tom gets hit by the rubber mallet that was tossed to him….I threw it

I have that clip on DVD. I will convert it to mpeg and post a link once I get it uploaded.

Too Kewl! I live in the northwoods and just ran into Tom and Todd since I am up at night because of the pain I am in a whole nights sleep just does not happen. They are great and Tom rules. I watch them over anything else on Direct TV and 100 whatever channels. I haven’t bought anything yet but I wouldn’t know what to do with any more knives than what I already have and the money isn’t there since my accident. I love these guys so tell em another woodsie guy that lives in a log cabin says keep on with it all! They are my early morning entertainment! I wouldn’t know what to do without ‘em!

I almost died laughing

Holy christ. Before i had satellite i had only basic cable and my friends and I used to come home from the bars, drunk as hell, and then we’d get stoned and try to find something funny on TV to watch. many a night we would settle for the hillarity of Tom O’Dell. we often called his 1-800 number to f**k with his staff but unfortunately now we are blocked.

Hey Chris Helms, Can I get a autographed picture of Tom & Todd as well? Me and my son stay up just to watch the most entertaining program on TV these days. We are both into knives and I have ordered different sets and I am very pleased with their quality. But to tell you the truth, it’s Toms “plain ole” talk and salemanship that convinced me. Loved the show, and I look foward to it’s airing every week. Tom rules!
June 13th, 2005 at 7:14 pm
You just never know what you’ll find if you ‘google your name’. That dude was pretty entertaining. I would flip through channels late at night and hear my name… just couldn’t help but to watch it for about 30 minutes after that. While drinking one night, damn near almost bought some frigging knives and a big ass samarai-lookin sword!
June 19th, 2005 at 11:33 pm
“Tom O’Dell” you just wish you were Tom. As for the rest of ya’ll that want autographs, I will take my digital camera in for the Wednesday night show and get a photo. Email me at helmsc@comcast.net and we will work out postage. I don’t think he will mind autographing 12 or so 8×10’s
June 19th, 2005 at 11:34 pm
Did anyone catch the Cleaning Kit presentation about 30 minutes into the show tonight? Todd let it slip and called it a “Cleaning Clit”. lol

WHAT ARE Y’ALL TALKING ABOUT!! I WATCHED KNIFE SHOW 2 NIGHTS AGO (then again I have sattelite)….it was only like 11 at night……..I’m glad I’m not the only person who loves to see him make a fool of himself. One time….he had this knife and was pretending it was a penguin (making quacking noises) HI-LARIOUS!!! I’ve never watched his coin show…but it’s coming on @ midnight 2 night…so I’ll check it out. Hmmmmm
June 25th, 2005 at 6:29 pm
I never got any response concerning the autographed pictures of Tom. I have asked him about it and he is game to autograph for whoever wants them. Email me at helmsc@comcast.net to work out postage.
June 30th, 2005 at 4:58 am
Hey Chris, I want an autograph, but i guess since i work there with you, i should just ask him, what do you think?…I know he always asks me to give the customers the best price possible….Oh, in case you don’t know…i do work at the show with Chris…i’m in the control room…
July 3rd, 2005 at 12:26 am
Alan, you don’t need an autograph where you are going…just a “biggun” bowie. btw…if you talk to jessica before you leave tell her she still owes me that date

I’m Jen’s boy friend. There have been many nights where we are trying to fall asleep and we burst into fits of giggling and one of us will quote Tom… “An actualy DEPLICTION of Robin Hood on the sword.” or, “We pet him once a week wether or not he needs it.”.
Who knows more/less about knives? God or Tom? IT’S A TRICK QUESTION! Tom IS God! LOL
July 17th, 2005 at 8:44 am
Yet another classic line from Mr O’Dell last night when he mentioned the price of steel going up…
“Have ya noticed your neighbors weed eatin those old cars, findin em and now hauling them to be recycled. Ya know why ? Cuz metels at an all time high !”
Hilarious !

You know, I thought I was the only person who tuned in on a regular basis. If I had a need for 300 knives this would be the guy I would talk to.

I admit to being a CutleryCorner watcher, in fact, am watching Tom O’Dell and Mr. Boone on right now. They are on the PAX network here in Texas and are on starting midnight on the weekends. I’ve watched the show on the web, WHILE it was on on TV.
My probkem, as a knife collector, is being broke and wanting to order those Bowie collections…
I thought I was the only Knife Show nut…
Cool to find others…

I started watchng this show about a year ago and thought this guy sounds drunk (oDell) but hes having fun obviously. Hes a nut and the world needs more nuts like ODELL. i saw the show where he tells his bleeding partner I think thats gonna require a band aid. You turn off them lousy movies on Skinimax and HoeTime late at night and jump on over to the Cutlery Corner for some real down home entertainment. Get yourself a BIGGUN!!

Tom is the best. My wife and I have been watching for some time. I have read all of your postings about Tom and Todd. Tom is great but Todd needs to go. There is one person on the show that none of you mention, the cameraman Tick. We have turned many of our friends onto this show and they all love it, but we all agree that Tick needs more face-time. Put Todd behind the camera. I think it is great that Tom has such a large following. There is nothing better than watching him when he brings out my favorite BOOOOEEE, TOMZILLA. If I could just buy TOMZILLA, instead of 187 knives for $1.23 each, I would be inclined to purchase it just to be the first of my friends to own one. If every one of you Tom lovers would just tell your friends to watch, it wont be long before Tom’s show is bigger than QVC.
October 12th, 2005 at 10:28 am
Tom is an outright legend!! Not only does he distribute a wonderful high quality product, he also entertains the masses with the ease of a court jester. Tom has taken the somewhat mundane job of selling knives and turned it into an art form. I do however, agree with an earlier posting made by “Jasen.” Tick needs more face-time!!! Tick seems to be very comical and an entrepneural genius. I think the show and its loyal following would both benefit from Todd and Tick swapping roles. Todd seems to bring the show down much like a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward. I was relieved to find this website and learn that I was not the only passionate Tom O’Dell fan!!

Best show ever. Found it 3 nights ago and fell in love.

does anyone have any footage of don west from his shop at home days?? will pay $$$ for any tapes or dvds of this great man! please email me bigcheese211@yahoo.com Seems like every day I get someone call in say “Don, I’d like to buy that hall of fame set” or “i’d like to buy the grand slam ventures tiger at 5,000 buck” but the fact is, folks, if you missed it, then you missed it. There’s no going back in time here, folks, so be sure you get verified on more than one. - Don West

I LOVE TOM O’DELL HE’S THE BEST, LAST NITE HE WAS EATING PUMPKIN PIE AND SHOWING THE CAMERA WHILE TODD TRIED TO BE ALL SERIOUS AND SELL A DEAL. TOM IS A GENIUS SALESMAN
November 21st, 2005 at 7:45 am
I think Mr. Thomas O’dell is one of the most entertaining people on television. With deals like “Todd’s Backdoor Blowout” and the infamous Red Bone Muskrat Skinner, how could you not love him? There is nothing like a lonely weekend night with a few beers and Tom.
December 5th, 2005 at 9:54 pm
Mr. Thomas O’dell is the greatest man to ever live. I was watching some fine Cutlery the other night and Tom was goofing on Todd, as usual. The “kit name” was called Todd’s Paradise. Tom came on first and said, “This is Todd’s Paradise: No women! Just good ol’ Tom O’Dell and fine knives of Cutlery!” I laughed so hard I nearly pissed my pants.

Yeah, I watch the Knife Show all the time. I never knew that there were more people like me and my friends who like to laugh at the hilarious antics of Tom.

Does Cutlery Corner broadcast on (Time Warner) cable anymore? An email to Tom O’Dell broiught no response.
January 31st, 2006 at 3:25 pm
My buddy John claims he’s seen Cutlery Corner on our local PAX affiliate (or whatever they’re calling themselves these days) - he has Time Warner Cable in Southern Maine.
YMMV.

I live in the suburbs of Detroit and we used to have the pleasure of viewing Mr. Tom O’Dell. I am really upset that the PAX network that we used to watch him on no longer has the show on or at least that I’ve seen. If anyone knows if this show comes on in the Detroit area, please let me know what channel and time it comes on. For now the only time I can laugh my ass off is if I watch their taped shows on http://www.cutlerycorner.net Its just not the same watching it on the computer. Maybe they stopped airing it in our area because we pranked the show to much! Oh, well long live Tom O’Dell and his great art of selling knives!

ok, first off, my # is blocked from prank calling cutlery corner. I would like to contact tom odell.. but at any rate

I particularly liked the sword extravganza with 6 swords. That included the Robin Hood and five other fine quality blades that I am very satisfied with. Thank You Leo Gayten

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the beanie babies don west used to sell on shop at home, that was funnier than than the sports collectables. I just purchased a small set of knives to test them out, i could buy one knife for fifty bucks or i could buy 26 knives for 45 bucks. I just had to pull the trigger sooner or later.
May 5th, 2006 at 11:27 pm
It’s still on. You just have to look for it. You can still get your DRAGON SLAYER FANTASY knife. Do you think his sidekick will ever stab him for always interrupting him?

By the way I just want to inform you all that Shop at Home, the old home of Tom’s knife show (as well as the Don West Sports Show and other entertaining late night shopping. is going out of business. IMO serves them right!
June 4th, 2006 at 3:51 pm
My friends and I were watching last night, which we have not done in a while, and we were dismayed to discover that Tom was nowhere to be found, and had been replaced by a lame woman. We proceeded to call, of course, and inquire as to Tom’s whereabouts, and were further dismayed to discover that there is a possibility that Tom will be fired from Cutlery Corner! This is terrible news, and I think we should travel to TN and protest until they re-establish Tom as the head of operations.
June 5th, 2006 at 9:21 pm
I got the impression from this weekends show that Tom is just on vacation or doing something else that has taken him off camera temporaraly. They also mentioned the closing of Shop At Home, in what I think was a little dig. If Tom doesn’t come back I’d imagine their viewership will drop. I’m hoping the King of Biggins will be back Saturday morning.
June 11th, 2006 at 4:48 am
You guys and gals are making it too hard on Todd Boone. He is an integral part of cutlery corner and with his mullet haircut and good ole boy drawl, he fits right in. Long live Tom and Todd!
June 30th, 2006 at 9:05 am
Shortly after posting the news of SAH’s closing, I was pleased to hear that Jewlery TV bought the network from its old owner EW Scripps and has reverted the network to its’ old collectibles format. including the return of knives . Last week I managed to catch a show with Todd Boone and Shawn Leflar, and i’ve heard rumors that they have brought, or are bringing O’Dell back, is this true?
could this eventually lead to the return of the glory days of the best
biggens-busting Knife Show in the world?
July 30th, 2006 at 10:22 pm
Tom & Todd are cool. Kinives are cool. But the chicks have got to go! These girls don’t even know which end of the knife is the blade.
August 1st, 2006 at 7:30 pm
[...] I’d like to think that I was was a catalyst for this, considering the ongoing popularity of my Knife Show post:Wikipedia entry on Tom O’Dell [...]
August 19th, 2006 at 2:31 am
Oh my God…I used to watch the KCS all the time a few yers back…and actually bought “the Zatoichi sword” from them.
And not only did I find the new Knife Collector’s Show on tonight…but then I find this page. Not only do I see that good old Tom’s alive and well, and with a new website…but I also get to see a clip of Leflar acting like a complete dumbass and (deservedly) paying for it by getting a broken blade in the gut.
This is the greatest night of my entire life.
Now if only O’Dell would come punch out this “Todd Boone” guy and stand next to Leflar where he really belongs. C’mon, Shop At Home.
August 19th, 2006 at 9:42 pm
Tom rocks!!!!! I thought I was the only one watching, along with my son, now I feel better.
August 20th, 2006 at 2:13 am
Chris was the MAN! I agree with the post above that he may have been a little deranged sometimes - very patriotic and sometimes a little too heavy on the religion but he did have product - strange as it was. Anybody have a clue what happened to him?
O’Dell and his crew are clearly the remnants of the Deliverance woodsmen - O’Dell may actually be the Banjo Boy all growed up. Don’t get me wrong - I have bought knives from them and I do have a modest collection. I just always figured O’Dell was the reason they invented TIVO, either that or the MUTE button on the remote.
Actually, I’m disappointed that they re-run their shows on subsequent nights instead of having new STUPENDOUS deals every danged night!
