Two reasons to read the comment threads at the Onion AV Club

1) In a dis­cus­sion of morally dubi­ous hol­i­day enter­tain­ments, the idea of keep­ing Christ in Christ­mas was brought up. One person’s response:

Like­wise, I believe in the impor­tance of keep­ing Thor in Thurs­days. That’s why once a week I drink exces­sively and smash things.

2) The AV Club’s list of the least essen­tial albums of the year some­how mor­phed into a debate over the ori­gin of the phrase “Ain’t no party like a _____ party, ’cause a _____ party don’t stop” (the ori­gin, of course, being P-Funk), some­one sug­gested that it may have been “a Don­ner party.” To which another user responded:

I do believe that a Don­ner party stops. You have to run out of hor’dourves at some point.

I’m sure they lose some, or all, of their humor being pulled so bla­tantly out of con­text. Ah, the things that amuse me…
