Isn’t the Light OK?

This is my first “offi­cial” blog post at wordpress.com. My other blog, a word­press install on a sep­a­rate host, is cur­rently sus­pended due to a hack-in that com­pro­mised the site, so much so that I’ll most likely need to wipe every­thing and start from scratch. So, until I can get my domain back up and run­ning (and maybe even after, who knows?), here we are.

If noth­ing else, this has shown me the impor­tance of always know­ing what scripts you have installed on your server. The hacker most likely found a way in through a mail­ing list script I installed a few years ago to try out and ended up not using.

(Oh, and if you’re try­ing to reach me via email, be sure to use my Gmail address, as the other one is tem­porar­ily down along with the rest of my domain…)
