More songs about Jesus and how he makes me happy, please.

Andrew Osenga points out a well-written, even handed article about his old band The Normals and how difficult it is to make a living writing honest music in the Christian music industry.

Underneath that article is yet another example of how the CCM industry is by and large completely antithetical to any impulse of true art, and couldn’t recognize satire if their lives depended on it. I’ve never heard anything by The Frantics, but the article titled “Compromised song leaves bad taste with the band” (scroll down below the Normals article) makes me want to check them out.

In the song “Another Day,”
Shandrow is jaded and sarcastic. Unknown to the label, which used the
song on the album, Shandrow is lyrically dismembering the label’s
representative.

Part of the song goes:

“Carry me on your wings
Make it such a thrill to me
Filling me with your dreams
Knowing that the hole we’re in is not too deep to stop you.”
