Preaching about The Choir

There’s an interesting essay about CCM and how most of us tend to listen to music that agrees with our own worldview up at Stylus Magazine. It’s actually more of a personal “how I stopped listening to youth group music” essay, but it’s really well done.

My favorite part:

Fun fact: in 2000, art-punks Wire released their limited-edition EP The Third Day; four years later, Third Day released their seventh album, entitled Wire. Both groups likely remain ignorant of each other.

I always approach this kind of stuff with an open but guarded attitude - the writers of pieces like this often seem to have an axe to grind against organized religion, and assume that for anyone to sing about their faith is a stupid and ultimately pointless thing. This article pleasantly surprised me.
