Upon lis­ten­ing to Slaid Cleaves’s song “Wish­bones” the other day I com­pletely mis­heard the lyrics to the cho­rus. The actual lyrics are:
Spin the bot­tle cap, throw a shot back, everything’s gonna be all right
and I heard,
Spin the bot­tle cap, throw a Shop Vac…
I like my ver­sion better.

It’s stuff like this Ask MetaFil­ter thread that makes me wish I’d paid more atten­tion in col­lege music the­ory class. My inner geek longs to be able to express the things I hear in terms like “imper­fect cadence” and “sub­me­di­ant.”
