Gmail? What do you need that for, dude?

Thanks to the good graces of my fellow RMFO.netter Mark Smiley, I am now a member of the “elite” (or is that “l33t”?), ever growing few who posess a GMail account.

I’ve been all about simplifying and streamlining processes lately, and have taken to checking all of my POP email accounts right from Yahoo! Mail while I’m at work and don’t have access to Thunderbird. I knew you couldn’t check GMail from a POP3 client, but I thought that I might be able to add external pop accounts to GMail the same way I did to Yahoo, and thus take advantage of GMail’s significantly bigger storage space. I thought wrong.

Not only that, but for some reason, the url http://gmail.google.com is not accessible from my work computer. It’s as if either Google or our system administrator has blocked my IP from using GMail.

Oh well. I’ll stick with Yahoo, I guess…
