What I did on my summer blogging vacation

…in several short sentences:

  • We spent the fourth of July with friends and family (including my favorite niece, Eva.) This also meant meeting my mother-in-law’s new boyfriend, which was awkward to say the least…
  • Our church sent a crew of people on a short-term mission trip to Cuba, including our pastor. Being the chair of the diaconate, I became second-in-command along with Paul, our youth pastor. The thought of the two of us, part of the “indecisive trio” that includes my wife Carla, in charge of anything while the pastor’s away still frightens me, especially considering that Vacation Bible School was happening during the trip. Thankfully, although there were some “bad seeds” among the kids, everything else went pretty smoothly.
  • Paul, Carla and I also drove to Boston to pick up our returning missions team. It was incredible to hear all their stories first-hand. Having just recently read John Piper’s Don’t Waste Your Life (especially the chapter about missions), it really gave me a desire to go out and serve, wherever it may take me.
  • Work has been incredibly hectic, since we lost a team member recently and have been training a person to take their spot.
  • We hosted a concert with Brant Christopher, Pamela Clark, and Danny Mellado. More on this soon.

It doesn’t look like much when you write it out, but trust me, it’s enough…
