I might take a little cash over Your very flesh and blood.

Waving or Drowning?: the storehouse

I found this linked from Emerging Minister, and it’s very eye-opening. Carla and I regularly tithe an amount we’ve agreed on by a lot of budgeting and prayer, but we know exactly how much of it is being used for different missions, how much is going to fund the upkeep of the building, and how much is being used for actual ministry purposes. It’s never occurred to me that giving money to church could ever possibly NOT be a God-honoring thing to do.

I think a lot of us, including myself, are guilty of neglecting our own personal responsibility to the gospel of Christ and giving it up to the authority of our churches, rather than submitting all to the authority of our savior.

    Hi Andrew:

Thanks for keeping the conversation going. It’s one of “those” subjects. That is, we’re all never going to agree, and more to the point, I’m not sure we’ll all agree what the issue is! It’s kind of like an onion - you start peeling, and…

    Peace.
